October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Purple Poppy is passionate about supporting local causes and teamed up with Bras for the Cause and Can Do Cancer to help increase awareness and raise research funds for early detection, prevention, treatment and a cure.

 

Bras for the Cause is a non-profit organization that strives to put an end to breast and cervical cancers. They are Iowans choosing to support other Iowans by way of unique and creative methods. Through grants and donations, they provide cervical screenings, mammograms, and health and wellness education to low income and under insured Iowans.

Can Do Cancer is a non profit organization that strives to improve the lives of patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments in Des Moines and the surrounding area. They provide patients on chemotherapy with dinner and house cleaning services throughout treatment. They also have a website providing information and support for those who have been diagnosed with cancer.

 The Purple Poppy  hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness Event from 10 AM – 7PM on Thursday, Oct. 25th. They will host another on Nov. 15th, from 10-7. Ten percent of all profits will be donated to Bras for the Cause and Can Do Cancer. Sip on wine, enjoy refreshments, socialize and Shop for a Cause during the month of October.
